Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD)

Few organizations are equipped to deal with the stress of a critical incident such as a fatality at the workplace, sudden deaths of a coworker, natural disasters, or criminal behavior such as armed robberies. T.E.A.M. can be there to help your employees and organization through such difficult times.

A critical incident is an abnormal, traumatic event, such as violence, suicide, homicidal or accidental death, and serious injury that occur in the workplace and are experienced by normal people. Critical incident stress is the combination of physical, thought, and emotional reactions of normal people to the trauma of a critical incident. Critical incidents can be traumatic for those who: became part of it, watched it happen, or have since heard about it.

A Critical Incident Stress Debriefing is a specific formatted intervention designed to help minimize the impact that these situations have on people. The process helps people integrate the experience in a way that makes sense and helps reduce the symptomatic behavior that often results from these events. T.E.A.M. counselors have received the specialized training necessary to provide this service for your organization.
